Flamin' Groovies is an American rock music band whose peak was in the 1960s and 1970s. They began in San Francisco in 1965, founded by Cyril Jordan and Roy Loney. The group have been called one of the forerunners of punk rock, and they also had a major influence on the power pop genre. In 1976 they signed with Sire Records and released the album Shake Some Action. The title track would go on to become the band's best-known song, and it won a new cult following for the Groovies, even if they failed to break through to the mainstream. For once, the Flamin Groovies appeared to be in the right place at the right time. 1978's Flamin' Groovies Now and 1979's Jumpin' in the Night, followed and it’s from this classic period when the Groovies were at their height that the music on this album is drawn.
